Jon Birdsong studeerde jazz en klassieke muziek aan de University of North Texas (VS). Daarna verhuisde hij naar New York en San Francisco waar hij als trompetspeler actief was in verschillende jazz- en popgroepen. Hij ging er onder meer op tournee met Beck (Midnight Vultures tour 1999/2000). In 2003 verhuisde Jon Birdsong van New York naar Antwerpen, waar hij onder meer samenwerkte met Think of One, FES, Stijn, dEUS, Dijf Sanders, The Golden Glows en Black Flower. Jon Birdsong ontwikkelde daarnaast een aantal eigen muzikale projecten, waarvan Special Choir het voornaamste is. Dit ensemble maakt gebruik van een oertrompet, de conch shell of schelp. Hij bespeelt eveneens een ander bijzonder blaasinstrument: de cornet a boquin of cornetto.

When I describe it I say sometimes that it is a cross between Duke Ellington and Erik Satie. The original recording project was in collaboration with Anthony Romaniuk. This fellowship has been a great inspiration bringing distinct influences of baroque and classical traditions. His departure to Madrid is filled only by the expertise of Raphaël Collignon who also has deep knowledge and experience in the early music field.
We search for an intimate, poetic, dark, yet playful music that will be based on compositions but will also be full of openness and surprise.
