Over the course of 3 days<\/strong>, over 1,100 lots<\/strong> will be featured, spread over 5 sessions<\/strong>, with no fewer than 850 entries in the ‘Work on Paper’ segment – or about three-quarters of the offerings.<\/p>\n

The classic auction around Art and Antiques on Tuesday 5 December is characterised by a lot of variety. A Florentine or Flemish tapestry<\/strong> (lot 4) thus shares the walls with a 17th-century panel showing dancing peasants in front of the inn ‘In den Hertog van Beyren’ (lot 6) while a large ‘Adoration’ by Cornelis De Vos<\/strong> (lot 11) is presented next to a more worldly ‘conversation piece’ by Peter-Jacob Horemans. There are also 19th-century orientalist canvases (lots 39 and 40), a small ensemble of antique furniture and bronze.<\/p>\n

When it comes to Antwerp, we would like to point out a sculpture by Alb\u00e9ric Collin<\/strong> (lot 102), a small canvas by Eugeen Van Mieghem<\/strong> (lot 125), a Franck<\/strong> table from the Art-D\u00e9co period (lot 112) or another monumental ‘Bacchanal<\/strong>‘ inspired by Alma Tadema, saved from demolition (lot 117).<\/p>\n

Also featured are some designer furniture including a red lacquered secretaire by Emiel Veranneman<\/strong> from 1970 (lot 267), Mies van der Rohe<\/strong> Barcelona Chairs from 1960 (lot 227), terracotta sculptures by Hanneke Beaumont<\/strong> (lots 237-241) and 20th-century painting by Sophie Kuyken, among others.<\/p>\n

After some 90 jewels, the first session will conclude with the auction of a series of painted toilet bowls<\/strong> (lots 306-321), for the benefit of two Belgian patient associations CCV-vzw<\/a> and asbl Crohn RCUH<\/a>, which work to represent the interests of the more 30 000 Belgians suffering from chronic inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”14834″ img_size=”full” add_caption=”yes”][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/6″][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row equal_height=”yes” content_placement=”middle”][vc_column width=”1\/6″][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”2\/6″][vc_single_image image=”15435″ img_size=”full”][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”2\/6″][vc_single_image image=”15438″ img_size=”full” add_caption=”yes”][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/6″][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row equal_height=”yes” content_placement=”top”][vc_column width=”1\/6″][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”4\/6″][vc_column_text el_class=”justify”]On 6 and 7 December, there will also be four sessions of Works on Paper<\/strong>, which will include the collection of the late Patrick Kuppens, manager of the Ghent antiquarian bookshop De Blinde Reiziger (‘The Blind Traveler’).<\/p>\n
