[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/6″][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1\/6″][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”2\/6″][vc_single_image image=”18699″ img_size=”full” add_caption=”yes”][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”2\/6″][vc_column_text el_class=”justify”]In this more than successful and varied auction with emphasis on paintings and antiques from the 16th to 19th century, both a Chinese so-called ‘Birthday Vase’ (lot 302) and a finely painted view of Leuven Town Hall (lot 352) were awarded the hammer price of \u20ac 45000. Tripling the estimate then again did an anonymous, attributable to the early 16th-century ‘Master of Paul and Barnabas’ Crucifixion (lot 3, res.: \u20ac34000) while an early 18th-century English console table (lot 108, estimated at around \u20ac1500\/2000) went away at \u20ac22000 after a tenacious bidding war. A moralising canvas by the specialist in portraying poultry in a neerhof, Adriaan Van Utrecht, charmed a new owner at \u20ac 18000 (lot 12), while a battle in Vuchterheide, going back to a prototype by Sebastiaan Vrancx (lot 10) was then hammered down \u20ac 17000, just surpassing what was offered for a panel by Abraham Govaerts (lot 18) (res.: \u20ac 16000). That antiques and collectibles were also doing well was proven by a rare Leuven fountain in Imari porcelain and silver (lot 184, res.: \u20ac15000), an 18th-century ‘ schippertje’ (lot 101, res.: \u20ac7000) or an early 18th-century fragment of a confessional by Boeckstuyns (lot 25, res.: \u20ac6400).[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/6″][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1\/6″][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”4\/6″][vc_column_text]Romantics such as Jan Van Beers (whose ‘Romance by Daylight’ graced the catalogue cover, lot 382, res.: \u20ac13000), Hendrik Schaeffels (lot 378, res.: \u20ac9500) and Jos Schippers (lot 395, res.: \u20ac6600) also continue to charm. For an impressive Gerard Portielje (card game), however, we did not find a new amateur.<\/p>\n
