As usual, October’s offerings are many and varied, ranging from tasteful antiques to bold design. This time, there will be exhibitions in two locations: as always in the auction house itself, but also in a gorgeous city palace in the heart of Antwerp.<\/h4>\n

In the heart of the city we find a unique ‘h\u00f4tel de ville’, decorated in Parisian style. Some may have frequented the boutique LO&S there, an established name in high-end clothing, which has currently found a new location.<\/p>\n

The meticulously curated interior of this impressive property should not fall short of the grandeur of its heritage value and will come under the auction hammer at Bernaerts in October. The grand interior, decorated with the bordeaux hues of rouge-griotte, includes refined Louis XVI, Directoire and Empire furniture, decorative pieces such as neoclassical candelabras by Pierre Philippe Thomire and Fran\u00e7ois Remond, alongside paintings by Henri Auguste Lanave, Jean Mayne and Leon Abry, among others.<\/p>\n

The eminence that fashion icon Tonny Linders achieves in his luxury boutique continues in his warm home he created on the upper floors of the city palace he renovated. The lots will be available for viewing on site, at the address Oudaan 20, during the viewing days from 3 to 7 October.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/6″][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1668437394849{margin-top: 2% !important;}”][vc_column width=”1\/6″][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”2\/3″][vc_column_text]Further additions to the Classic series include an expressive portrait by Alexandre Drahonet and two gossamer genre paintings, each depicting a card-playing party, by Gerard Portielje. There is also an impressive series of mantel clocks, garniture and ‘Boule’ cartels. The auction session will conclude with several bronzes, by Jef Lambeaux (‘La volupt\u00e9’) and Emile Louis Picault (‘Escholier’), among others. Immoroc Bankruptcy<\/h3>\n

On the second auction day, Wednesday 9 October, we will proceed to allot some 90 lots from the collection of the failed NV Immoroc. It promises to be a journey through time (and through styles). Thus, it will start with two woodcuts by Albrecht D\u00fcrer, and then move on to Old Masters such as Karel Van Mander and Gillis\/Frederik Van Valckenborgh. The other big eye-catcher is Giovanni Battista Piranesi, represented in this auction with three lots, including the famous \u2018Carceri d’invenzione\u2019 series.<\/p>\n

Through Piranesi’s winding staircases, we eventually arrive in the 20th<\/sup> century, where the choice is between works by Serge Poliakoff, Sonia Delaunay, Pierre Alechinsky, Karel Appel, Maurice Wyckaert, Luc Peire, Gilbert Swimberghe and, last but not least, Jef Verheyen (\u2018Hora est nos de somno surgere\u2019, 1976, pigment lacquer on canvas, 130 x 130 cm). Modern Design<\/h3>\n

Modern, lots 350 \u2013 503 <\/em>Design, lots 504 \u2013 605<\/em><\/p>\n

The Modern Design sessions likewise jump from highlight to highlight. There is an immediate strong start with a series of four oil paintings by Modest Huys, before moving on to several works by Walter Vaes, a bronze sculpture by Alfred Lambert Baggen, two oil paintings and several lots of rare prints by Nico Klopp and an impressive series of works by Floris Jespers, with the large-format African scenes (up to 207 x 242 cm) in particular grabbing the attention.<\/p>\n

It doesn’t stop there, as five lots of ceramic works by Pablo Picasso from the 1950s and 1960s soon follow. Sculptures by Miguel Berrocal Ortiz or Sofu Teshigahara and a typical Takesada Matsutani with vinyl glue and graphite also take us to distant horizons.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”2\/6″][vc_single_image image=”21409″ img_size=”full” add_caption=”yes”][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/6″][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1668437394849{margin-top: 2% !important;}”][vc_column width=”1\/6″][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”2\/3″][vc_column_text]Closer to home, in turn, we find an intriguing \u2018spine\u2019 in gilded bronze by Jan Fabre, three matter paintings by Bram Bogart, a recognisable canvas by Michel Mouffe, two very substantial paintings by Roger Raveel and a series of 21(!) ceramic objects, furniture and wall sculptures by Frank Steyaert.<\/p>\n

Rounding off, we have a more than hundred lot selection of design objects and furniture. Enthusiasts will look out for the result for Ado Chale’s \u2018Goutte d’Eau\u2019 table, but also certainly for the many other lots mainly of Italian and Scandinavian design, such as Piero Lissoni’s \u2018Air Wardrobe\u2019 for Porro, among others, alongside designs by Pier Achille Castiglioni, Alessandro Pianon, Ettore Sottsass, Gae Aulenti, Alessandro Becchi, Luciano Frigerio, Henning Kjaernulf, Ingo Maurer and so on.[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/6″][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1\/6″][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”2\/6″][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n
