The inspirer of ‘The Carbolineum Press’ brought together, among other things, an exceptional collection of De Praetere editions and was also the largest Tom Lanoye collector in our region. In a varied afternoon session, this unique collection, with numerous unique and almost unfindable editions, was in great demand with some high-flyers such as ‘Verzen’ by Herman Teirlinck (lot 1031, res.: € 5600), ‘Lenteleven’ by Stijn Streuvels (lot 1028, res. : € 3800), the original typescript of ‘Alles moet weg’ (lot 1166, res.: € 3000) or even ‘Ausstellung Vlämischer Künstler’ from 1898 – De Praetere’s very first book – which went to a new library for € 2000 (lot 1025).[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/6″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1668437394849{margin-top: 2% !important;}”][vc_column width=”1/6″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_single_image image=”23288″ img_size=”full” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/6″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1668437394849{margin-top: 2% !important;}”][vc_column width=”1/6″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]On Friday 11 October at 10am, a small but diverse collection of old and valuable books came under the hammer, alongside fine literary and art editions, late 19th-century and especially 20th-century drawings and prints.
James Ensor was well represented with no fewer than 20 items including the magnificent portfolio ‘Scènes de la vie du Christ’ (lot 1622) which was allocated €5500 while Picasso’s 1921 dry-erase set ‘La Source’ was good for €5400 (lot 1633). Spilliaert’s watercolour depicting a beach scene did not disappoint either (lot 1675, res.: €22000), Gerhard Richter’s 1971 offset ‘Wolke’ doubled its estimate (lot 2141, res.: €4800) and a triptych by Thomas Bogaert (lot 2226) sold at €1900 while Roger Raveel’s star also continues to shine. From the collection of Johan van Gheluwe, the 1970 suites ‘Een man op stap’ (lot 2099) and ‘The 1978 paintings parade at Machelen on the Leie’ (1979) went for € 6800 and € 5000 respectively. Haring’s ‘Man on Dolphin’ (lot 2170) in turn found a new owner at € 20000, while the highest bid in the print auction went to his 1989 set of four flawless silkscreen prints, ‘Pop Shop III’ (lot 2171, res.: € 105,000).[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/6″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1668437394849{margin-top: 2% !important;}”][vc_column width=”1/6″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_single_image image=”23291″ img_size=”full” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/6″][/vc_column][/vc_row]

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false

89
103
post-23276","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-auctions","tag-homepagina-en
"publishpress_future_workflow_manual_trigger":
["GET
