During the evening session on Tuesday, October 6 at 7 PM, the VRT art collection will go under the physical hammer in 37 lots. For decades, the broadcaster collected paintings, sculptures, and prints to turn the corridors and workspaces into pleasant environments. <\/span><\/p>\n

For instance, monumental canvases by Georges Collignon adorned the ground floor corridors, an equally impressive canvas by Jan Cox took pride of place in the meeting room, and prints by artists such as Roger Raveel, Bengt Lindstr\u00f6m, Pol Bury, Jef Verheyen, and Jo Delahaut hung across multiple floors. <\/span><\/p>\n

Various sculptures also shone on the site itself, including the impressive \u2018II=I\u2019 by Hilde van Sumere at the garden entrance. The sculpture, made of Corten steel, dates from 1985 and stands no less than 6.5 meters tall. Also difficult to move, view, and collect on-site are three impressive tile panels by Paul Van Hoeydonck and work by Felix Roullin. <\/span><\/p>\n

Special mention goes to the series of seven original canvases by Pol Mara that hung in the central area of the Klara floor. With titles like \u2018Fiesta\u2019, \u2018Cabaret\u2019, \u2018Ik zou willen dansen soms\u2019 (Sometimes I’d like to dance), and \u2018Crazy time\u2019, they alluded to the musical arts broadcast on the third floor\u2014the home of Radio3, now Klara.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0Finally, and significantly, around 117 lots will also be offered in a so-called ‘silent auction’, a race against the clock running from September 23 to October 12. These are mainly prints (silkscreens, lithographs, etchings) that hung in the hallways and various offices across the floors of the VRT building. <\/span><\/p>\n

Collection<\/strong>
By appointment and upon receipt of payment, you can collect your artworks between Tuesday, October 13 and Friday, October 23, from 10 AM to 12 PM and 1 PM to 5 PM, and on Saturday, October 17 between 10 AM and 1 PM.<\/p>\n

The sculptures by Frans Van Den Brande, Felix Roulin, and Hilde Van Sumere must be collected in situ<\/em> by appointment, at the buyer’s own expense and responsibility.<\/p>\n

Parking<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

There is a loading and unloading zone in front of our door in the Verlatstraat, or you can park in one of the nearby underground parking garages: parking Kooldok or Steendok (a 5-minute walk away).<\/div>\n

    \nYou will receive a bid number after registering at the desk, starting half an hour before the start of the auction.

  2. Online<\/strong>: you can set up a ‘prebid’ or you can bid ‘live’ online during the live auction itself.

    \nDuring the auction you log in and can follow the bids live and place your bid.

  3. Place an absentee bid<\/strong> via the online catalogue<\/a> or mail<\/a> a completed form<\/a> to info(at)bernaerts.be at the latest 12h prior to the live auction. The auctioneer tries to acquire your lot at the most advantageous price possible.
