A stunning album on Syria (lot 1247) sold online for 4600 euros, while a beautiful drawing by Bibiena (lot 4200) left the room for 4200 euros.

But the real highlights were to be situated on the side of the modern drawings. Work by René Guiette (lot 1437, 1300 euros), Georges Minne (lot 1452, 1100 euros), Bram Van Velde (lot 1489, 16000 euros) and Philippe Vandenberg (lot 1525, 1400 euros) animated succesfully the afternoon session.

More classic urban and harbour scenes by Arntzenius (lot 1857) and Eugeen Van Mieghem (lots 1905, 1907 and 1908) sold resp. for 2800, 2000, 5500 and 8000 euros.

A fine drawing by Frantisek Kupka (lot 1856) got hammered for 9500 euros while an early Jozef Peeters drawing (lot 1902) made a solid 6500 euros.

But all spotlights turned to Karel Maes’ breathtaking modernist gouache composition on paper (lot 1886), making it’s way up to a record breaking 16000 euros.
