Jaak Fontier, whose collection emphasizes on Belgian abstract paintings and drawings from the seventies till the nineties, was an art critic who defined from the 1950s on the 'new painting' in the northern part of Belgium. 
Around 140 paintings, drawings, sculptures and prints was offered on Wednesday October 12th on a special session, called 'the Fontier Collection': works by Gaston de Mey, Marc Mendelson, José Vermeersch, Robert Devriendt, Willy De Sauter to name a few.
