The fall season began at Bernaerts with a more regular ‘vente bourgeois’ of traditional items such as paintings, furniture, sculptures, glass and silverware, carpets e.o.
Hereby an short overview of some hammer prices (without buyer’s premium of 22% or 25% via Live Bidding):
On the side of the paintings ‘La poupée’ by Jan Portaels (lot 467) took the highest bid of the sale at 16000 euros. A typical interior scene by Jean Portaels (lot 464) climbed shortly before to a fair 7000 euros, while two 17th century paintings (lots 63 and 64) got up to 3000 euros each. A couple of rare Russian icons (lot 52) made it’s way easily to 6000 euros.
Worth mentioning on the side of the antiques and furniture are a Dutch clock by John Ellicot (lot 576) eventually fetching a firm 5000 euros, while a 19th centrury Mazarin desk (512) lot sold for a reasonable 7500 euros.
Much reason seems to be gone when it comes to China. A big fishbowl (lot 802) shot up to 8200 euros, a covered potiche (lot 694) left the block for 3900 euros… And last but not least: a ring in white gold with a 2.15 kt diamond got hammered at 15000 euros. 88% of the lots were sold, of which 7.65% through LiveBidding.
