On February 13th & 14th, Bernaerts held a promisingly good opening sale of the Spring season. On the side of the antique furniture there was a remarkable cabinet from Indo-Portugese origin from around 1800 (lot 134) which found a happy new owner for a smashing 16600 €. On the side of the applied arts, most of the attention was drawn to a Second Empire mantle piece after Thomire (lot 168) that left the block for well earned 10000 € and to Napoleon III period piece, signed ‘Denière Paris’ (lot 169) sold on the phone for 18000 €.
