A multi-faceted sale was held on Monday and Tuesday March 17th and 18th.
The traditional start with some Romanic Masters paid off, as to be expected: a portrait by Lidderdale (lot 38) was hammered at 2600 euros while Théophile Lybaert (lot 49) was sold at 4000 euros.

Work by Cartier-Belleuse (lot 333) made a correct 3200 but it were Egide Rombaux (lot 335) and Demeter Chiparus (lot 337) who took the lead with resp. 14500 and 10000 euros. In the modern era much attention was drawn to the Charles Catteau vases lot 269, 1900 euros) and other pieces by Lalique (lot 3302, 2200 euros) and Gallé (lot 283, 5000 euros). A bronze decorated plate by Sandoz (lot 384A) climbed up to 16000 euros, whereas a small Albéric Collin sculpture easily made 14000 euros. A very rare Franck buffet (lot 521) smashed its estimate by only leaving the block at 22000 euros.

On the side of the modern painters there was the marvellous ’Dimanche’ by Eugeen Van Mieghem (lot 358) that made a fair 12000 euros. Constant Permeke, that other Belgian giant, took the new owner to 7000 euros (lot 366). That was only a bit less than Alfons Proost (lot 372), ending up at 7500 euros.

Two more or less futuristic paintings by Fernand Steven (lots 461 and 462) climbed up to 9000 and 7000 euros. A ’Reflection’ by Roger Raveel (lot 605) ended up at 16000 euros. Ricci Albenda’s ’Ginkgo’ went to the US for 7200 €.
