A two day sale with some 600 lots as a Spring prelude. After the comic sale and before the 'Works on Paper' of March 25, we offer a wide range of mostly 19th and 20th century items. A short survey. 

Most light will probably be shed on a painting by Albrecht De Vriendt, 'Jeu de cour XVème siècle', estimated at 10000 euros. Apart from this gem, there are three works by François Musin, a portrait of a young lady by Jules-Joseph Lefèbvre, dating from 1883. The painting, made on commission by Dr Paul Horteloup, is estimated between 2500-3000 euros. 

Other names to look out for are Charles Boom, Ignatius Jos. Van Regemorter and David De Noter. 

A sale of about 600 lots of which 400 found a buyer. Spring has arrived at Bernaerts. A short survey of some remarkable results, excl. buyer's premium.

Uit de 19de eeuw citeren we een ’Jeu de cour au XVème siècle’ van Albrecht De Vriendt geschat tussen 7500/10000 € (lot 37) die mooi in de schattinsvork viel (9000 €) en een mooi meisjesportret van Jules-Joseph Lefèbvre (lot 19) uit 1883 dat, geschat tussen 2500/3000€, aan het dubbele wegging (5500 €). 

Een voor Antwerpen historisch belangwekkend doek was lot 36 uit de veiling. Het werk van Louis Van Engelen stelde een zomerse namiddag voor met talrijke personages uit het culturele en politieke veld voor. Het gezelschap van schilders als Louis Van Engelen, zijn broer Piet, Jan Van Beers, componist Peter Benoît en andere leden van de hogere burgerij op het terras van café-restaurant Belvedere op de Antwerpse linkeroever, werd na een fel duel tussen een bieder in de zaal en een klant aan de telefoon afgehamerd aan 92000 €. 

On Monday evening a small bu choice collection of Chinese export porcelain will be offered for sale.

On the side of the sculptures there are the ever present Jef Lambeaux, Albert Ernest Carrier-Belleuse and Antonin Mercié. 

From the Art Nouveau period there is a most charming lot of Emile Gallé side tables, in close connection with paintings by Modest Huys, Charles Watelet, Marcel Jefferys, Floris Jespers, Ferdinand SChirren a.o.

From a private Antwerp collection comes a wide range of works by Walter Goossens, offereing a fair overview on his production in the last 40 years. 

No sale without the Antwerp stronghold Eugeen Van Mieghem, present with a most typical harbour scene, estimated between 8000-12000 euros.
