Romantic and Modern Masters’ paintings and sculptures from the 19th and 20th century comprise: one of the highlights was the maybe lesser known Edmund Blair Leighton (lot 73) with his painting ’Yes or no’, estimated between 7500 and 10000 euros, sold for 24000 euros. Futhermore we had Félicien Rops (lot 226, 5400 euros), Piet Van Engelen (lot 199, 4000 euros), Florent Crabeels (lot 318, 5000 euros), Pascal De Beucker (lot 289, 15000 euros), Lodovico Pissarro (lot 581, 4800 euros), Albert Saverijs (lot 587A, 13100 euros), Alfred Bastien (lot 214, 16000 euros) and Leon De Smet (lot 595, 6000 euros).
On the side of the more rigid Art Deco period we presented two seducingly beautiful bronzes by Thierry Van Rijswijck (lots 426, 4000 euros and 427, 15000 euros), and delicate pieces by D.Alonzo (lot 403, 4200 euros) and Ferdinand Wijnants (lot 428, 10500 euros) a.o.
The post war period brought us a fully in blue marker covered coat by Jan Fabre (lot 669), hammered at 20000 euros.
